A Day In The Life, In My Life.......

Got some bad news from The Wife today. She has to make up the time spent on the Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve holidays, and the storm day, when the office was closed, because she didn't have enough vacation time to cover for these days. Is it common for workplaces to NOT give paid holidays? This is a major suck. Now I'm stuck carting The Girl to and from daycare for three days this week while she goes in early and stays late to make up for the lost time.
Another major suck is that she had a payroll deduction to cover her so-called Christmas bonus -- a $20 gift certificate to Meijer -- and more to cover the card's sales tax.
And because the workplace couldn't come to terms with a major health provider (one we were with), we were automatically rolled over to another provider.
Meanwhile, I've heard the upper managment got themselves some nice tidy little bonuses. Grr. Where's the justice?

It's been a sucky day, weather-wise. Cool (50 degrees F) and rainy. This is winter! I don't want rain in January! I want snow!
Got a holiday card from an old acquaintance today. I knew Linda from one of the local computer clubs. Several years ago, her family moved down to Florida. I sent her a card this year. She sent me a card in reply....and included religious tracts! She's done that in the past, and I just find it tacky and annoying. How can I tactfully tell her to stop sending me tracts with her cards? Do I send the tracts back to her? Or do I just throw them out?
Found a great 3-CD compilation of '80s music in the library today. It's called "Living In Oblivion" and has a lot of the obscure and minor hits I remember from back then. This even has stuff they won't touch on the '80s or classic rock stations.
