I've always wondered.....
Dec. 4th, 2006 10:45 pmwhy some states (such as Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida) require a county sticker or identification on the license plate. What purpose does it serve? The only thing I could think of is if I'm traveling elsewhere in the state, and people will see that I'm from out of town.
I came from a state (New York) which did not require such a sticker on their license plates.
If I ask someone at the license bureau about it, they'll just say, "It's the law". While that is true -- it's specified in paragraph 4503.19 in the Ohio Revised Code -- there's nothing in the law which explains the rationale behind it. And that's what I want to know.
