That Darn Cat!

Mercury, my female grey cat, snuck out again this evening as I was coming home from grocery shopping. I opened the door and zoom! -- off she went. I tried to catch her, and almost had her once, but I fell over and she escaped. She disappeared into a neighbor's back yard. I
This is the fourth time she's snuck out in the past week. I don't know why she snarted venturing outside all of a sudden. Maybe she knows she's been a bad ol' puddy tat, having taken a few swipes at my daughter. But she seems to suck up to me, coming up to me while I'm on the computer, and either trying to walk across the keys ro getting between me and the monitor.
A note went out on the local freecycle list. So far, I have one taker.
I really hope the cat comes to her senses, realizes she's cold and hungry, and will sit on my stoop, waiting to be let back in.
[Updated 23:30] At about 9:30pm, the cat was on the sill of my only first-floor outside window. I brought her back in, although she didn't want to head back inside.
