This week's haul from the library......

One of my favorite things about the local library is their sizeable audio-visual collection. CDs, videotapes, DVDs. For CDs, the rental period is 21 days, and the overdue fees are 5 cents a day. I can try before I buy!
Here's what I picked out this time.
Blood Sweat & Tears, Greatest Hits. This late 60s/early 70s rock band had an entire horn section backing them up. Many of their songs were staples on FM radio. On Rock 102, they used their music as filler, as their songs fit easily into 3-4 minutes.
The Cure, [forgot the album name]. This is their singles collection, with the little boy and the ice cream cone on the cover. I recognized only a few of the songs. I'm not happy because there's an irreparable scratch on "Feels Like Heaven", which means I can't listen to it. And "Love Cats" isn't on there! :(
Deep Forest, Boheme. Blame
athenawindsong for this one. ;) Deep Forest is a French duo who take tribal songs/chants from all over the world and augment them with drums and pop accompaniment. It's quite a fusion of musical styles, but they manage to dovetail quite nicely. I can easily listen to this on infinite-repeat mode when I'm working or driving.
Deep Forest, Comparsa. This one took a little more time to grow on me than Boheme. Some of the vocals were processed or vocoded, adding to the ambience.
