When life gives you Keurigs....

Several years ago, when the Keurig coffee makers started appearing on the market, I thought, "Who would spend $100 on a coffee maker?" Then they started appearing -- one in my veterinarian's office, one at my local auto service center, and the folks down the hall at work have a couple of them.
What are the advantages? First, it makes one cup at a time. Pots of coffee are often left uncofnsumed or forgotten, and often boil dry while sittinggi on the warming burner. Second, the coffee tastes better.
And what are the disadvantages? It produces a lot of waste, especially considering the K-cups that get used and tossed in the trash.
And then, Sven, one of my former co-workers, took a new job, and offered to give me his Keurig coffee maker. He said he already had another one at home, and no longer needed this one.
Then
maedbh7 gave me her mother's Keurig, in an effort to downsize and liquidate the estate.
And them a couple of months later, someone tossed out another Keurig coffee maker in my mini-dumpster. I fished it out, ran it, and found that it was quite noisy. I know Keurigs are temperamental and often require distilled water. So I ran a liter of vinegar through it, and the noise went away.
So now I have three Keurig coffee makers -- one red, one gray and black, and one blue. I could sell one of them, but that would break the set.
As for the waste K-cups,
maedbh7 had several refillable K-cups, and I started using them. Now all I toss out are the used coffee grounds.
